Joseph Dweck Does Not have My Support!

- stop homosexuality and everything what hashem does not want ! Read the Torah carefully and dont add whatever u like more !

This man is basically holding the closet door open for 100s of our community member to come out. He has made it okay to be gay. Families will be ruined because of this. I do not support him for this reason.

I do not agree with anything he said.

May others who care about what is truth in Torah sign. The Torah never changes to fit the times.

It is pure Shame to hear this from so call "rabbi"

I prayed in Rabbi Dweck's synagogue for years. He is as traditional as it comes. He is/was trying to provide a framework on how to respect/incorporate people, who may otherwise be Torah abiding people, but have difficulty with one misvah. His point was that many people have problems keeping certain misvot. Lashon HaRah for example is worthy of Karet and loss of your portion in Olam HaBah. Adoltery, and other inappropriate sexual behavior mot yumat (death penalty). This is a Toaivah (abomination or strange thing depending on how you translate it). Rabbi Dweck has always taught people about perspective. What is the perspective of this avera compared with others? How should we behave towards 5 percent of the Jewish population (1 in 20 people). That 5% statistic includes the Jews residing in the United Kingsom, Brooklyn, Deal, etc. If these people are totally not involved with Torah, I guess the what to do is easy, but if that person keeps most other musvot, then what...? Why would we deal with a person who was an adulterer or a gossiper, who speaks Lashon HaRah all day long, differently than this person? All of these are pretty serious sins. I guess Hashem knows which are the "worst". Rabbi Joe Dweck's position in this shiur, and most of his shiurim, was about perspective. Are you perfect? Have you never gossiped? Is there no one you know that is generally a "good person", but could be gay, so they moved away to prevent being ostracized? In the process they distanced themselves and their children from the community Rabbanim that could have guided them and their families. We must all Keep perspective. Keep Rabbi Dweck. He has followed in the footsteps of other great Sephardi Chachamim, who have not shied away from difficult topics, rather he has dealt with them head on. He should be commended, not sacked.

I only feel bad for the family of Rav Ovadia Yosef, who ended up trusting this rasha and Erev Rav. Let us not let his memory be tainted by such a rasha.

Mashiach is not going to come when we as a community cast stones and teach close minded hate to our children. If you had listened to the message, the Rav was stating the fact that NO ONE is totally without sin- and to just stop with the nonsense of judging one another!! The hateful comments on this page are EXACTLY why Rabbi dweck gave the shiur he gave.... The purpose of the shiur was to open a DISCUSSION ( which IS the Sephardic tradition) and to look at ourselves and how we treat our fellow community members.... SMH...
