The Giant Rock can only be known as THE GIANT ROCK, since the 1940's or earlier. Those raise in East Elmhurst Queens have without question know the status and history about this iconic rock...

I grew up in E Elm, played on the "Giant Rock" since the '50's, it is the cornerstone of E Elm. It was, it has been and should always be called "Giant Rock".

It is "Giant Rock" --- Literally and historically

Please save the Rock.

Giant Rock is an East Elmhurst landmark; a memory in the hearts of the children who played there and experienced freedom and adventure as they journeyed to adulthood.

That rock has been a part of this community since before my ancestors were brought here , over 300 years ago. My childhood and that of all the children of this community was enriched by its presence and mystery!!!!!!

Please correct the name of this landmark of East Elmhurst. Thank you.

Grew up in East Elmhurst, residing on Ditmars Blvd and 29th ave. For decades, rode my stingray bike up and down Ditmars and the best part of the ride was going to Giant Rock. Its enormity helped to put myself and my community in perspective. At Giant Rock, could park my bike and use my imagination. Remember a part of Giant Rock was my apartment and neighbor friends and I would pretend to have a tea party in my Giant Rock apartment. There were always kids at Giant Rock , we played, yelled at each other, there were wars and competitions to climb to the top of Giant Rock. Giant Rock belongs to us, is part of our legacy and is certainly a mainstay of East Elmhurst.

The Giant Rock is a community icon that has stood the test of time for generations. It has also stood the test of those who would have destroyed it. It was always known as the Giant Rock - It is not a pet it is an honored treasure, a gift; we don't need to make it cute. We need to respect it and the community that owns it. Its name is "The Giant Rock". It is so named because the community deemed it so. FIX IT!

The thousands of children who played on the Giant Rock over the years have seen massive changes in their old neighborhood, which is now unrecognizable. The Giant Rock, a gift of the ice age, is one stable thing to return to. It would be a truly generous gesture to restore its name and dedicate it to the past generations of local children who see it as an old friend.
