Request to keep Aboona Nehme in Halifax for 5 years
Hello fellow parishioners, and members of the broader Lebanese community of Halifax.
Aboona Nehme was brought to our community just a few short months ago, but has quickly made his spiritual impact on many of us. He has taken the time to learn the stories, history, and challenges of our community, and takes this knowledge and tailors his sermons in a way that personally touches everyone who hears them.
Our Bishop in Montreal has re-assigned him to a new city, and the Bishop is the ultimate authority on this, and as a community, we should pray for and support the decision the Bishop makes in our interests. It is also our role as a community, to be caring and loving enough to inform our Bishop what our community community needs and wants are.
I want to be clear to everyone in the community that I in no way presume to speak on behalf of the community. It is for this reason that I have establish this petition.
My plan is to see if there are people in the community who feel the way I feel. If not, then this exercise is no more then wishful thinking on my part. However, If it turns out that there are a number of people in our community who share my impressions of the value that Aboona Nehme would bring, then I plan to share this petition with Monsignor Azzi, and ask that he advances this information to the Bishop in whatever appropriate channels the Monsignor sees fit.
Please sign this petition and share it to ask the Bishop to reconsider Aboona Nehme relocation and kindly asking that he re-assigns Aboona Nehme to stay in Halifax for another 3-5 years so that we are not losing both our Monsignor and Aboona all within the same year.
*this is not a message or petition against anyone who is currently selected or considered to serve our HALIFAX community, it is merely a petition to keep the person we have grown to know and love.
