To: Indian Army Recruiting Section, R. K. Puram, New Delhi E-Mail: dir-recruiting6-mod@nic.in SUBJECT: Abolishing Percentage cut-offs from Indian Army's Tech Entries Suggestion 1: Use AFCAT as Admission Criteria for Army Tech entries Dear Sir, We are engineering graduates and aspire to join Indian Army. We would like to bring to your notice that the %age criteria in Tech entries are shutting down all doors for most of us to join army. We believe that you will agree with us when we say that a person's intelligence and aptitude cannot be judged by the %age scored. Also there are certain universities like where the %age scored is low in general as compared to other universities and most of private universities. But instead of getting into details of this scoring pattern we should work on the solution approaches, such which can be implemented within shortest time with minimal effort and are concrete in nature. Sir, we understand that the intention behind putting the %age cut off is good and we don't doubt that. This way you are able to manage the Tech entries better, but we are certain and you will also agree that many deserving, highly motivated candidates are suffering the Loss due this criteria. You must have already received suggestion to conduct a separate examination to filter candidates for Tech entries. But, we understand it is easier said than done. Sir, we have a suggestion to make, And we request you to give some serious consideration to the same. As, we all know that all the Forces Army, Air Force and Navy work in close co-ordination during war or peace. Then why not Army work with the Air force and take the benefit of a successful scheme of AFCAT already under implementation. Army can use the AFCAT qualified status as the Filtering criteria for Tech entries. This way you will be more likely to get candidates with better aptitude, candidates who actually turn up and not just apply online. We think this way the entries can be managed even better as the number of candidates will be less and the Screening Task which very hectic for any board while conducting SSB for Tech Entry will be way easier. This new scheme can be implemented with immediately with minimal planning as an AFCAT examination was recently conducted. The Army can notify the candidates of the same in the notification of SSC 43 Tech and TGC 119. The AFCAT number can be made a field in the TGC and SSC Tech Form. Another way can be that those who have not appeared for AFCAT will face the CutOff %age while center allotment, And those who have appeared for AFACT will be qualified only on the basis of their AFCAT result. Another advantage of this approach will be that those candidates who are genuinely interested will work harder if they fail to qualify AFCAT, and in case of %age scored in graduation there is nothing pass out candidates can do. Sir, Please look into this suggestion and if it seems to be a feasible solution for managing Tech entries then Please implement the same. This will greatly help the candidates like us. Jai Hind
