
Abolish Inquiry Based Learning at Merewether High School


Inquiry Based Learning is a subject where students are encouraged to achieve their own learning goals by making a project, both in a group and as individuals. This, theoretically, is an outstanding basis for a subject as it should prepare students for their High School Certificate. As great of an idea as it is on paper, in delivery the execution and subject itself is poor. Students benefit minimally and it does not help in preparation for their HSC or in any other areas of learning. Myself and my fellow peers have witnessed the ineffectiveness of the subject and how limited the learning area is and how easy it is to become unmotivated as there are milestones but these are unsubstantial to keep one on the learning path. Put ery simply, Inquiry Based Learning is essentially a bludge subject for all those involved and is detreimental to their learning in other subjects as it is added unneccesary stress.
