This petition is to ask New York State to abolish the front license plate requirement on passenger cars. The front license plate requirement results in cars that have bumpers irrevocably modified to fit the plate. This unsightly plate ruins the look of a car and reduces the resale value of the vehicle when sold to a resident of a state that does not require a front plate. This is a quality of life issue for New York State residents who value the appearance of their vehicle and is seen as a negative to those car enthusiasts looking to relocate to this state. Nearly half the states in the country do not require a front plate, and it is asked that New York State join the ranks of these states. In this time of increased taxes, fees and regulations, abolishing the front license plate would be seen as a way to giving something positive back to the motoring public. There would also be savings to the state in material costs. It is urged that you sign this petition and our elected representatives consider the satisfaction of those living in the State of New York.
