Help the residents and school children have access

The work is sporadic on the road, this is the main road to school, hospitals and peoples residences The work here needs to be constant to alleviate this situation and bring some normality to what is becoming a stressful situation for many people.

This road closure is causing so much disruption and it's unnecessary, traffic lights on this site would keep this road open

I am a parent who is forced to drive into bideford college each morning in the horrendous traffic, along the narrow roads of bideford - its taking me 45 minutes each morning, when it was 8. The impact on local residents is clearly horrendous, the congestion is -Frankly- obscene.

Absolutely ridiculous to close that road for so long such a massive impact

It has been a nightmare and costs all local residents time and money (plus it is dangerous as other roads are used as rat runs) to drive further to get to their destination which normally would take a few minutes! Plus, rarely do you see much, if any, any actual work taking place which is both appalling and unforgiveable by all those involved who appear to have a complete disregard for those affected!

Causing disruptions with longer commute times to school and traffic all heading one way so having to leave earlier for school to get there on time, local events taking place in abbotsham but instead of a 5 minute drive it’s now 20 minutes when the place you want to be is the end of the road! Going to work and having access to the main road is non viable again leaving earlier which everyone is doing and taking longer to get to places.

Effecting district nurses

The negative effects are felt all around Bideford with all journeys taking longer due to congestion. This closure directly impacts many parents’ ability to actually successfully manage having children/childcare needs as well as a career - with added stress and commute time management even more strained. Someone should surely also be monitoring the negative environmental impact with increased emissions caused by the congestion, as well as the economic and social impacts. The length of time now mooted is unacceptable for many reasons and DCC need to urgently reconsider and make alternative provisions.

This road closure has caused absolute mayhem, with no thought to residents or traffic issues. Alternative routes are an absolute nightmare. The road needs to be opened and traffic management put in place.

Londonderry resident.. total mayhem on our local roads! Traffic congestion more so when schools are starting and closing plus other times of day.. cost of time and extra money on fuel..

Horrendous diversion bringing Bideford to a standstill. Causing dangerous traffic congestion for children travelling to and from Bideford college and other schools in proximity

A complete and utter lack of planning and foresight, leading at times to massive congestion around the surrounding Area.

Absolutely unacceptable to close a key town road artery for 18 months. Particularly when the diversion route is not suitable for much of the traffic.

It is utterly scandalous to shut this road for so long. Work on sections on one side of the road.. Or lay the pipe in the field... Or stop building housing estates so the work isn't needed.

This road closure is causing lots of issues and blocking up other routes all around Bideford. In addition to this, the diversions add a significant amount of time onto the journeys.

My child has been late for school every single day since this started. I can’t do both school runs on time any more, because of this road closure My 5 min drive to work has become 20 min Diversion down a tiny lane - bloody dangerous, we have had so many near misses Huge vehicles getting stuck/can’t reverse Completely ridiculous that it’ll take 5 months - and they’re never actually working!

I live off Moreton Park road which is now because of the road closure used as a main road. Moreton Park road is in most parts a single carriageway because of residents parking; it's causing mayhem!

Absolutely ridiculous, it’s ruining where we live, adds time on every journey we play bowls 5 minutes up the road, now it takes us 20minutes going & 40 minutes getting home because of school & all other traffic are going the same way, it’s making life miserable, The houses should never have been allowed coming out onto the narrow Abbotsham Road it’s criminal disrupting 3/4 housing estates, the school/ college. Plus the mess, the constant noise, the dust, we can’t have windows open or hang washing out or attempt to do gardening. It’s making us very depressed.
