Abbotsham Road Access Issues

I completely support this petition the disruption and lack of notice and effective planning by the council is unacceptable.

It’s crazy that a major trunk road in Bideford has been allowed to be closed. It is causing issues for thousands of people and costing businesses thousands of pounds in delays.

I work in education and have to be at work by 8:20. I have to drop my child at childcare at 8am (school doesn’t open before then) and am always late as I get stuck trying to get back to A39 at Abbotsham. There was no consultation. The building site should never have been approved given the insufficient provision for sewers and drainage. The damage to Moreton Park Road caused by regular traffic from double decker buses etc is then causing damage to other vehicles etc. In 18 months time I won’t have a job if this continues.

It's a joke !!

Essentially blocking off the main route from Abbotsham Village to Bideford school, and an access point for people in that part of town to get to the link road turning near the big sheep. Unacceptable that the work and disruption should last this long!

This is totally unacceptable and the prospect of future closures shows a complete lack of consideration for residents and businesses.

Get the chinese in they will do it in a month.

It makes travelling more difficult, double decker buses, school buses all add extra traffic to already congested routes.

Having a child at preschool and a business in the area it has been an absolute nightmare. Often there appear to be no work taking place.

It's a joke!! It's affecting everyone's day to lives . They gave a date and should stick to it . If they can't deliver then heavy penalties should apply and 24hr around the clock work should be carted out until completed .

Massive inconvenience for all the reasons mentioned in the petition.

I use this route to get my child to school. I have had to detour an extra 5 miles a day which also adds on time to journey as the routes are all clogged with traffic going one way through narrow roads.

Prior to this 20 week road closure there was already temporary traffic lightscto widen the road. Why can't all this work be planned and completed at the same time? Now I read that this work is already over running and even when finished there's the need to create a pathway between College Park and Winsford Park new development and further delays / closure. I'm lucky enough to be retired and can travel later. Whereas families that need to get their children to schools either side of the road closure have been ignored and suffer unnecessarily. Why not consider in the future having a pathway all the way to Abbotsham so you have the option to walk safely? Rant over!!

This needs to be re-addressed, time scales are ridiculous.

It's completely unreasonable to close this road for this amount of time!! It's having a negative impact on our preschool

No consideration given to the residents at all. Causes huge backlogs in other parts of the town and huge detours have to be undertaken at our own expense.

This road closure has caused nothing but havoc for the residents around this area. When lights could be put up for through traffic. Also lack of work on certain days. Monday 9th. No work carried out.
