I am always learning nearly day to day by using refernce books, UpToDate, remote access to the local Medical School Library, etc. There are nearly daily situations that I look up to expand my knowledge base. I attend wekly grand rounds and other CME meetings. None of these count tword ABP MOC.
The other parts of MOC are time consuming and add little if any benefit to my patients.

Stop the MOC. Costly in terms of time & finances & no evidence to support its efficacy. Just goes to the pockets ABP president & staff.
Also, do away with recertification exams. There should be one standard for certification. Older pediatricians shouldnt be "grandfathered" into a separate standard.

I agree that the MOC process esp Parts 2 & 4 are TIME CONSUMING, EXPENSIVE & NOT PRODUCTIVE. I have to give up seeing inpatients on ALL the weekends this 2015 to work on my MOC requirements as my CYCLE ends DEC 2015.
I have to PAY another Pediatrician to cover me on these weekends as well as PAY my mid-level PA to take my after hours calls. Furthermore I have to PAY AGAIN my IT person extra on weekends to enter all the data as I am NOT COMPUTER SAVY.
I know a lot of my colleagues MY AGE( >50s) already gave up on the MOC.
What a WASTE and LOSS of GOOD PEDIATRICIANS who will have to retire EARLY as the hospitals/Medical groups need BOARD CERTIFICATION to renew their contracts!!!

I obtain well over 100 hours of yearly CME between meetings, readings, webinars etc. Only i know my educational needs, not the AAP or ABP. Our cme should reflect what we perceive as deficiencies in knowledge , not what a governing body chooses for us. Learning is lifelong and not measured in tests, but rather in the quality of patient care. There are numerous ways to quantify that already! The AAP continues to disappoint me with its indifference to these issues. But what is one to expect when our governing body has become a business , with our CEO a recent medical director at a large insurance company? Conflict of interest? Who is on OUR side?

As a person who has to take board exams in both IM and Peds, I would hope the ABP takes into consideration the positive changes the ABIM has taken.

I have been practicing for 24 years and not one patient has asked me if I was board certified. I give good care and keep updated with what is going on in pediatrics. I meet the CME requirement of my state and am board certified. I participated in these MOC activities and I do not find them helpful but time consuming and expensive.

Agree with many other pediatricians. MOC often feels to me like 'busy work', especially Part 4. It takes valuable time away from patient care. The bureaucratic pressures are immense (ICD10, EHR, ACO, increased state licensing requirements, etc) and take more and more time away from patient care.

In this age of easy online reference, no one thinks in multiple choice questions. We should get credit for all the teaching we do; you can't teach if you don't keep current. The part 4 requirements are insulting. We should get credit for all the performance improvement we do in the course of our everyday duties.

Licensing exams and CME requirements by state are reasonable. MOC requirements regarding hand washing that take hours and hours to complete are ridiculous.
