AAHOA Member Petition Regarding Choice Hotels Franchisor Relations

Wyndham and choice know very well, how to divide and rule

Choice Hotels needs to look out for their investors and help bring in more NOI. Giving FREE to guests is not helping owners. FREE breakfast, Internet, Shuttle, Points and discount for every little complain is not a good way to run a business. Owners are spending tremendous amount of money on move to modern initiative. Additionally the new key card folder, inserts, lemon water, etc...are simply waste of money. Nothing should be FREE. Everything should be a package deal for sale. Example- Parking, Shuttle, Breakfast, Internet, Fitness Ctr. It’s costing owners to provide these amenities.

Choice needs to get their act straight. All they care about is themselves. They could care less for their franchisees.

Choice Hotel is not a leader Only think they need your bank account number

We should worry about our association future . Current leadership is only handling problems from past . They can’t be blamed alone . How we got here is years in making . We need to make easier for future generation of leadership by simplifying objectives to be focused on very few issues . What is happening right now is they are driven in 50 directions and don’t even have time to think . Simplify mission . Our mission is not to be the best association for for social and political issues that are not core to hoteliers . -Tax cuts are too big for us to fight . -We should not be political sloganeering that aligns is with one political party either of them . We should just be aligned with hoteliers interest . Free enterprise is not motto or founding objective of aahoa . As a matter of fact SBA loans are the reason we have this many hotels .SBA AKA government backed program . -Human trafficking is good cause to support but It’s a social issue. We can help we can’t solve . It’s obvious what’s the priority for members .

I strongly agree with this petition. The time had been passed long time ago to stand up to all frenchisors who's unfair practices hurting the hospitality industry or maybe it's time for all our members to act individually.

Choice is committing fraud the way it treats us. They are putting 10 properties within a one mile radius. Everyone should convert their brands out of their system so they suffer. Our businesses will do the same regardless of brand but they will see less revenue.

All Economy Brand are Struggling to pay the bills. Choice started SCPO rate plan with 25% discount with CP fee 5%. Do we get 25% discount on Royalty,Hotel supply purchase,Hotel insurance,Property tax etc......?????? Choice hotels is not consistent with brand to brand either..

Got to be very careful they negotiate contracts for example with the OT‘s and saying it’s a lower OTA commission that they’ve negotiated and then they take it through the back and I put it into the other hand. What I mean by that is payout arrival for OTA‘s and we’re paying commissions on the back in but we’re paying revenues on the actual numbers that is not the feasible number. Wyndham has had such rational success in doing similar items I think being that we need to bring them to the table as well on a separate petition
