Dr. Siddiqui, a highly esteemed Neuroscientist, was abducted from Karachi in 2003 by then Pakistani dictator Pervez Musharraf along with her three very young children. Musharraf extradited Dr Siddiqui to US security forces in Afghanistan without giving her recourse to any Justice on alleged terrorism charges. She was held incommunicado in notorious Bagram Airbase for 5 years as prisoner 650 where she was tortured and repeatedly raped, according Human Right group Cage Prisoners.

After months of campaigning by human rights groups across the globe, US administration was finally forced to admit in 2008 that Dr. Siddiqui was in its security forces custody in Afghanistan. She was later taken to New York and was conveniently charged with attempted murder and assault for allegedly trying to kill an American interrogator in a gun battle in 2008. In a trial befitting Saddam’s regime, she was convicted of charges brought against her despite the fact that circumstantial evidence overwhelmingly favoured Dr Siddiqui.

This petition is a first step towards demanding justice for Dr. Siddiqui and raising awareness about her plight and her basic human right abuses.
