We the undersigned agree that access from the A414 to the Cotlandswick sports grounds and allotments is extremely dangerous. We believe that further serious accidents and fatalities will occur if the layout of this Hertfordshire Highways managed road is not improved. The existing single track access to and from the dual carriage way is without a slip road. Cars must leave and join the carriageway at very slow speed to avoid a head on crash in the entrance. Cars slowing to a stop on the carriageway causes following vehicles to swerve into the fast lane or break very heavily. Many drivers on the A414 assume that vehicles are slowing to leave at the nearby Napsbury Lane junction. Vehicles driving at speed are suddenly and unexpectedly faced with stationary vehicles. Many thousands of drivers must use this junction per week and they are put at risk through no fault of their own. Most will have stories of incidents that have occurred at this junction. We are all very concerned that serious accidents will occur as a direct result of the road layout. We believe that the space exists to modify the road layout to make this junction safer. We would like to put on record with Hertfordshire County Council that this junction is dangerous and that they must take action to remedy.
