Hertfordshire County Council finally confirmed they are redesigning the junction to include a proper slip road. I am so relieved that my neighbors and family will no longer have to risk their lives just to visit the allotments. We achieved this because you refused to let them ignore the danger.

We the undersigned agree that access from the A414 to the Cotlandswick sports grounds and allotments is extremely dangerous. We believe that further serious accidents and fatalities will occur if the layout of this Hertfordshire Highways managed road is not improved. The existing single track access to and from the dual carriage way is without a slip road. Cars must leave and join the carriageway at very slow speed to avoid a head on crash in the entrance. Cars slowing to a stop on the carriageway causes following vehicles to swerve into the fast lane or break very heavily. Many drivers on the A414 assume that vehicles are slowing to leave at the nearby Napsbury Lane junction. Vehicles driving at speed are suddenly and unexpectedly faced with stationary vehicles. Many thousands of drivers must use this junction per week and they are put at risk through no fault of their own. Most will have stories of incidents that have occurred at this junction. We are all very concerned that serious accidents will occur as a direct result of the road layout. We believe that the space exists to modify the road layout to make this junction safer. We would like to put on record with Hertfordshire County Council that this junction is dangerous and that they must take action to remedy.

I have been reading through the accounts many of you left about your terrifying near misses at this junction. Every story confirms that the status quo is a gamble with our lives that I refuse to accept any longer.

Seeing this momentum grow brings me a sense of relief because I know exactly how terrifying it is to pull out of that junction. It proves I am not the only one who holds my breath every time I head toward the sports grounds.

The council need to wake up. Its not rocket science to put in a proper slip road.

Almost got rear ended here twice last month. Its a total death trap and needs fixing before someone dies.

Used this junction once by mistake and nearly caused a pile up. Never again.

Totally agree. The way people have to brake on the fast lane is mental. Madness that nothing has been done yet.

My husband uses this daily and he hates it. Why are we waiting for a tragedy to happen to make it safe?
