The Patrick O'Brian books are amazing and are fabulous source material for a franchise. We need a sequel feature film or even better a series on HBO or the like.

I cannot understand why it is claimed that Master and Commander failed to make money or the reasons behind the claim,probably some tax fiddle.
The fact is it is one of the really great films and deserves a sequel.

Amazing move, got snuffed out by LOTR return of the king at the box office even though it's a far superior movie.
I think it's long overdue for a sequel.

I am a movie fanatic, I have a gigantic collection and I can say with no doubt that Master and Commander is my favorite movie of all time.

Smart dialogue, great action, and a superior alternative to the dreck that gets continuously churned out. Crowe and Bettany are excellent together. Make another. Make a dozen more. O'Brian's books are intelligent, witty, and suspenseful. I know that "smart" isn't the majority audience, but there are enough intelligent people out there who want a break from mindless pratfalls and gratuitous sex.

ALmost finished with the books, and have watched this movie probably ten times. There is SO much material just waiting on another brilliant movie.

A glorious movie deserving of a sequel. Forget Middle Earth - to spend more time in this Golden Age of sail with Lucky Jack and Dr. Maturin would be priceless.

I have loved this series and worn out the books from re-reading. Patrick Tull (RIP) reads the audio versions and is fantastic. But a movie would win the day. Time and tide wait for no man!
