Our daughter is 10 and suffers from Selective mutism and dyslexia. It is effecting her academically and socially and her needs are not being met with schools on Staten Island.. They are setting Staten Island children up for failure!!
Staten Island must stand strong, as the population increases, elected officials always forget this borough..well we have children too.

I was once told during an IEP meeting "the DOE doesn't have dyslexia as a diagnosis so there are no programs that will address the diagnosis unless you are lucky and end up with a teacher that specializes with dyslexic children" the lack of of support from our education department is hurting our children.

I suffer from a mild form of dylexia. help our children.
