We, the students, parents, teachers, and community members of Cyprus High School, are calling for immediate action to restore safe and reliable access to our school.

After the tragic death of a Cyprus High student on the unpaved back road leading to campus, the road was closed for safety reasons. While the closure is understandable, it has created a new and urgent problem: more than 2,500 students and staff now have only one road to enter and exit the school.

This has resulted in:

  • Extreme traffic congestion both in and around the neighborhood
  • Students arriving late despite leaving home early
  • Increased risk of accidents due to overcrowded roads
  • Delays for parents, buses, and emergency vehicles on the main road
  • Daily disruption to learning and school operations, and others trying to leave Magna

We are asking Magna City, West Valley City, and the Granite School District to immediately determine who is responsible for paving the back road and to begin the process without delay. Students deserve safe access to their school, and the current situation is unsafe, unsustainable, and unacceptable.

We urge local officials to act quickly, communicate transparently, and prioritize the safety of our community before another preventable tragedy occurs.

We sign this petition to demand a clear plan and immediate action to pave the back road to Cyprus High School.
