I have been spending my evenings reading through your stories about the matches Ernie played and the kindness he showed to fans over the years. These memories prove exactly why his name belongs on this road and I am working hard to ensure the local council understands how much this tribute means to our community.

Seeing the count climb toward one hundred names reminds me how much Ernie meant to all of us in this town. Please pass this along to one other person so we can hit that milestone before the council takes notice.

Hope you can make this happen, true legend. Don't know how she pulled this off but my mum got Ernie to visit our house and deliver a CFC coat from his shop to my brother as a birthday present, as 8/10 year old kids we were proper star struck by this huge football hero being in our house. Top man a true part of the fabric of my youth.
I have followed Ernie's career from Chesterfield Tube Works in the 60's through his time with CFC and all the local teams he has been associated with, a true gentleman who deserves this very small recognition for his services to local football
A True Legend who I watched from being a lad , then buying all my football and cricket gear fro Moss and Miller,
Ernie is a legend at CFC, I first watched Ernie play in 1968, when I was an eight year old. It would be fantastic for the fans of CFC to have a road named after him.
Why on earth the new street where the houses were built at Saltergate is beyond me (Spire Heights ffs). Lets put it right and name the road near the Proact after him and a statue please.

A fitting tribute to a class act, on and off the pitch. He made me feel so welcome at the club even though his playing days were a long time finished.
