Fellow Australians, we find ourselves under an administration which finds itself less resembling a government than a nepotistic board room. I won't lie, the next three years are going to be tough, both at home (dirtier air is harder to breath) and abroad ("Hey, ain't you the people who elected the amalgamation of George W Bush and Silvio Berlusconi?"), but we can make it more bearable through humour. Not Abbott, oh no, only the Devil and Rupert Murdoch know what makes that man smile. But through the universal comedy of George Costanza. Think about it. The Abbott government share many a characteristic with old George: - Stinginess - How else could the Liberals justify so many cuts in public funding in the middle of a global recession while the Australian economy continues to grow? - Dishonesty - I, er, well I'm only given 1,000 words here. Best you just Google this one. - Insecurity - A lack of self respect goes hand in hand with name calling. Anyone remember the 'Witch' sign? - Neurosis - "Lalalala, I'm not listening to your so called 'climate science' lalalalala" - And last but certainly not least: domination from his parents. *cough*MurdochandRinehart*Cough* So, let's cut to the chase, you and I are never going to take this government seriously. But laughing together may heal some of the deep, deep wounds the Liberals will attempt to inflict on us all in the coming years. With this in mind I call upon your support to request the Liberal National Party change their name to the George Costanza Party for the term of the Abbott government. They can have their old name back when a grown up takes charge. Thank you for your time.
