Southampton needs to do all it can to improve conditions and safety for cyclists to encourage as many people as possible to take up this much more sustainable form of transport. I cycle in and around Southampton a lot, and am often endangered by poor road design/maintenance and careless drivers. I support all improvements to make things safer and more pleasant for cyclists.

I welcome and support improvements to protect cyclists. I increasingly find myself at risk of serious injury, whilst being overtaken a few metres away from stationary traffic. Risking a life for no gain... I ask the question - Why? I would extend the plea beyond Dale road to the entire route between the University Highfield campus and SGH.

This is but one dangerous accident hotspot for cyclists in Southampton, but every improvement is needed!

Cycling is cool but only if it is safe. In Southampton many roads require attention and Dale Road is one of them. It should at the top of priorities as there are hundreds bicyclers every day!

I cycle to uni everyday and the roads are disgraceful. I have to watch the road, dodge pot-holes, avoid cars, and concentrate on not getting hit by a taxi at the same time. I make choices of either getting knocked down by a car or hitting a pot-hole (which causes you to come off your bike anyway). I love cycling but Southampton needs to improve the safety! Cycle lanes please.....
