We, the undersigned believe that the condition of Dale Road, Southampton is unsafe for the large volume of cyclists that use this road daily to access the Southampton General Hospital.
We are very concerned about the frequency at which incidents are occurring and would like to see action from Southampton City Council to make conditions safer.
We
would to see the following improvements:
· Complete road
re-surfacing
· Regular
maintenance to clear leaves, loose rocks/mud
· Install bike
hazard signs to help alert drivers to be cautious and aware of cyclists
· Build in cycle
lanes on both sides of the road
I had a terrible accident in 2013 while cycling in Dale Road (head injury- 2 months incapacitated). If the Council is promoting cycling (which is a great thing), the first step is to improve the road conditions, make them safe for cyclists..
