We, the undersigned, bona fide parents of learners at this school, petition the SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY TO HOLD an EMERGENCY GENERAL MEETING of parents to discuss the following: · According to what we have been able to ascertain, school governance is being conducted in disregard of procedures prescribed by the Department of Education. · In particular, the prescribed protocol for the appointment of new staff has been ignored, and very recently this clearly was the case, and teachers have been appointed in preference to other candidates who, in a normal situation, if race were set aside as a key criterion, were by far more suitable in terms of their experience and qualifications. · We have also learned that there have been instances of unauthorised expenditure of the School Fund to which we contribute, and that there is little transparency in the way our money is being appropriated for various purposes. · We feel that the trust we placed in the school has now been seriously undermined. · We therefore call for an urgent GENERAL MEETING of parents to be held as soon as possible so that we can have our concerns addressed.
