As a Former Student and Athlete at Williamson under Coach Sumpter, I can say from experience that he is a great coach and there isn't anything he wouldn't do for his players or students, you can't blame him for not having enough althletes.

TO: The So-Called "CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR THE WHS-MAYSVILLE COMMUNITY" and ALL FUTURE SIGNEES
First of all... He is not the problem... Don't just look at the outside picture... DIG DEEP...! Enrollment at WHS has tremendously dropped. (Significantly from the PAST years you'll are referring to...) Most of these boys with talent are getting lost!! Education is not important to them nor being an outstanding athlete.
Instead of tearing-down and removing a individual with a strong back ground, try to encourage more student to become more active academically and engaged in extracurricular activities.
EVEN THE BAND SUCKS...!!! “Just like Candy” sounds “ Just like nothing” in them stands! You ever wondered why? Because there’s hardly any students in WHS Band! I don't see a Petition to receive a new Band Director!! I could go on and on about the changes that are happening in Maysville Community (AND OTHERS AS WELL) when it comes to students and their education. Students are leaving our community schools to attending others to be in a popularly contest and neglect receiving an education.
I hope this 1000 signatures become VERY unsuccessful. The only possible outcome is WHS will receive a new coach and NO new WINS...!
Don't get me wrong.. I think that Bullard would be an outstanding leader as well, but its way more to it than just trying to replace the coach. Have a Petition to make ALL WHS STUDENTS more active academically and in school related activities. Then we'll see an increase in students participation in sports and other extracurricular activities. MORE WINs.. This will help students become more successful, plan for a bright future after high school, and create goals.
The students play a vital role in this as well. The coach does not go on the field and play those games. I wish the so-called "CONCERNED CITIZENS FOR THE WHS-MAYSVILLE COMMUNITY" would become more concerned about things like gradation rates, scholarships , students going off and fin
