Elretha is NOTHING but an upstanding citizen and member of the Eden Community! She has helped MANY people throughout her life, especially the kids she calls hers that have been under her care! IF she had a gun, I’m glad! That means she would protect everyone around her if something went wrong! We STAND with Mrs. Rea!!!

Ms. Perkins is like family to me, my children, and so many other families in this community. She has poured years of love, service, and dedication into our kids and into Eden as a whole. To see her painted as the “bad guy” over a simple misunderstanding is truly pitiful and heartbreaking.
This situation did not require the level of force or escalation that occurred. It should have been handled calmly and respectfully. Instead, it raises serious concerns about how some officers react in non-confrontational situations. When an officer has a history of physical or combative encounters with citizens, the community has every right to ask: are officers being hired just to collect a paycheck, or to genuinely protect and serve?
There needs to be accountability, better training, and ongoing mental health support for officers. Empathy, de-escalation skills, and emotional control are just as important as authority. If a situation is not confrontational, there is no excuse for making it one.
She deserves respect, dignity, and justice! Just as every citizen does.
