why should Mr/Mrs James final be worth 50% of a grade? The algebra 2 class was informed on 6/6/16 there would not be a final. Then on 6/10/16 we were informed of a written final that would be 50% of our grade. Our class is the only class with a final 50% of our grade. Even if a student had 100% on the hrw.com work and failed the final the student would not pass the class with a C or higher. The class will be on our transcripts as a summer credit recovery program and not shown as a full year anyway. Students are in this class so they can go to a four year college or even graduate high school. More than half the students I talked to said they will drop out of the class based on this final. Why should one class take a final worth 50% of our grade and other classes not have a final at all. There should either be no final or have the final be worth less than 50% of our final grade. We deserve an equal chance to pass this class. Each section has about 20-30 problems and each semester has 20 sections. How is that not working for our grade. If a class does not pass based on a final why should we take our time out of our summer, be at school 8am-1pm Monday- Friday and want to achieve good grades and work hard. To be slapped in the face with a final that determines our final grade. This petition is to have a stop now and not go any further. Parents will get involved and will be at district office and have complaints and be a major head ache.
