In the early morning hours of June 26, 2025, around 2:30 a.m., a devastating and intentional fire broke out at a residential building on the corner of North Avenue and Latrobe in Chicago, IL. This building was home to approximately 20 families. Tragically, six lives were lost in the fire ages ranging from 4-year-old child to 76-year-old including an unborn baby. Among the survivors is a 5-year-old boy who remains in critical condition in the ICU, fighting for his life. His mother, now deceased, gave her life trying to save him. We are now asking for your help and your signature. This child has lost his mother, and we are urging the appropriate authorities to consider the early release of his father, Kyle Lee Sr., who is currently incarcerated. Kyle Sr. is a dedicated and loving father who has served his time, shown good behavior, and is already scheduled for release in September 2025. However, in light of this unimaginable tragedy, we are pleading for his release to be expedited so he can be with his son—who needs him now more than ever.

Kyle Sr. has taken responsibility for his past and is committed to supporting and raising his child. He has earned good time and shown genuine reform. His early release would bring essential emotional support to a child who has suffered more than any child should. Please stand with us. Stand with this child. Stand with the families affected by this tragedy. The Austin community is united in support and we hope you will be too.
