A Desert Community Call: No Foie Gras at the Arizona Inn
Foie gras is widely recognized as an inhumane product, and many restaurants around the country have chosen to remove it in response to community values. As Tucson continues to grow as a thoughtful, sustainable food city, we’re asking the Arizona Inn to join that movement by taking foie gras off their menu. Maybe other Tucson restaurants will be tempted to update their menus as well. This petition reflects a simple, respectful request from locals and visitors to Tucson who care about compassionate dining and responsible sourcing. Entire countries, including the UK and Germany, have banned the production and/or sale of foie gras, and California has enacted a statewide ban. Many celebrated chefs have publicly stated that foie gras is “too cruel to be served.”
