Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 for her fearless opposition to the Generals and her brave and forthright support of a move to democracy.
Sadly the worm has now turned and the Rohingya people of Myanmar are being subjected to mass rap, ethnic cleansing and genocide and Aung San Suu Kyi, as the now President of Myanmar, is standing by doing nothing
It can be seen that the armed forces retain great power in Myanmar, and that Aung San Suu Kyi does not exercise effective control over them. We recognise that the scope of her actions is limited. But, as well as a number of practical and legal measures that she could use directly to restrain these atrocities, she possesses one power in abundance: the power to speak out. Rather than deploying it, her response amounts to a mixture of silence, the denial of well-documented evidence, and the obstruction of humanitarian aid.
We judge that by failing to act within her powers to condemn the atrocities, that she is complicit in them and demand that the Nobel Peace Prize Committee immediately act to strip her of that honour now, and before she is taken before the International Criminal Court for her actions and inactions.
Completely disgusting. She lost her way and has blood on her hands now. Take it back.
