Please consider installing new, improved safety measures and traffic controls at the intersection of Smede Highway (Hwy. 92) and Cemetery Road, St. Martinville, La. One more accident is one too many, and the community deserves the peace of mind and safety that come with having a properly controlled intersection. I am planning a petition to help raise the community’s awareness of this issue, hopefully increasing safety for both drivers and local residents like my parents. However, petitions aren’t safety upgrades. It is the responsibility of the Louisiana Hwy Safety Commission and the Town of St. Martinville to keep its streets safe for everyone, and I trust that you will install the appropriate traffic lights, passive warning signs, or other safety measures at this intersection as soon as possible.
