Whereas Florida State University strives for academic excellence and integrity, we urge FSU President Dr. Eric J. Barron to issue a statement denouncing and rejecting the decision by the American Studies Association (ASA) to boycott Israeli educational institutions.
The decision by the ASA is the latest effort by the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement to vilify, delegitimize, and isolate Israel with the ultimate purpose of eliminating it. The focus of the ASA on one country in the world for such a statement clearly demonstrates ulterior and nefarious motives.
Over 200 universities and colleges have already issued statements condemning the ASA's decision and we urge Dr. Barron to demonstrate that FSU does not succumb to particular political agendas.
Israel is the size of a pea, compared to the arab nations surrounding her on every side, she has to defend herself. She is also the only western style democracy in the MiddleEast. If those same missiles that they bombard Israel with, were to be used here. The US would cry out for us to wipe out the Arabs. I think Israel has been extremely patient under the circumstances. Do not let this Boycott org. control the college. Look at Israel on a map and you will see just how vulnerable she is.
