Due to the recent events here in Lincoln County North Carolina. Over the controversy of religion. And what type of prayer is held at the meetings.
I feel as a non-denominational minister.
That instead of having all these types of different prayers. And upsetting people that have different views on religion. Have a moment of silence.
A moment of silence can be just as sacred as prayer. With a moment of silence. A person does not offend anyone or insult any one. Prayer is said silently. And thanks could still be given by thanking everyone for showing up. For example; May you have the best of days. And may the odds be ever in your favor. Something like that.
There is nothing wrong with prayer. How ever;, our founding fathers felt that church should be separate from state. They did that for a reason. So other faiths would not be offended. And people could worship how ever they like. I feel any type of prayer ; belongs in other places.
Government buildings should just be for politics not religion. Faith needs to be kept in the sacred places that it is meant for.
What would our founding fathers say?
I try to respect all faiths in the world. Even my churches creed is. We are all children of the same Universe. And I agree with that creed. We may not all agree with other peoples faith. But we all have something in common. We are all a part of the human race.

I feel that it should be allowed to have a moment of silence so that will take carer of all the bases of all religions.

I think it will fix the damage done by a group that wanted to be about diversity. But this group is not... A group in my town wanted to begin. A goal of having meetings about interfaith beliefs. And they wanted to give diverse prayers at council meetings. Well it is not going they way the group promised. So as a minster. I feel that a petition. To have a moment of silence. Instead of forcing people that do not understand other religions listen. Or have to leave the meetings. Because of this controversy. A moment of silence can fix that situation of offending others.
