This is a call for change in the Minnesota Vikings organization. Most teams that make it to the playoffs have a solid coaching staff. Even with less than average players great coaching staffs know how to coach them into a solid team. Unfortunately the Vikings have not had such a coaching staff since the Bud Grant era. Since then we have had many great individual players but very few great teams, let's change that by working to get a coach that has proven himself and deserves to coach the team with arguably some of the most dedicated fans in the league and two of the greatest and most dedicated players in Peterson and Allen. Among the list would be Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher, Lovie Smith, and Ray Horton.
After the coaches, the most important part of a team is the quarterback. The Vikings have had one great quarterback, Tarkenton, and some quarterbacks that boosted their reputations mostly due to the likes of Carter and Moss. I think it's obvious that the more important part of a quarterbacks game is his ability to lead a team and understand the game not whether or not he can heave the ball 75 yards and runs a 4.3 40 although those last two would definitely be an added bonus. With that said, the list of free agent QBs worth a damn is very short and one could easily argue includes only one name: Tim Tebow. He has proven himself as a leader and winner. I know not everybody agrees with his religious beliefs but let's face it, he's not the only religious player in the league, he's just one of if not the most spotlighted and vocal. Despite his beliefs, almost everyone knows that what he did with an arguably lesser Broncos team than the current took more than just physical talent. One doesn't rally a team to five total, four consecutive, game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime merely on his physical ability. With that said, if Tebow doesn't seem fit for the job by the Vikings organization we'd all agree that they should ditch at least two of the three current quarterbacks and do a deal in the offseason for an aforementioned type.
As proud Minnesota Vikings fans we hope that if you don't manage to do everything stated in this petition that you at least deal with the coaching staff. Leslie is probably a great guy but he and his staff are not getting the job done and we don't want to see our team fall so far that they trade away Adrian Peterson and Jared Allen.
