The root cause of how people act, and why our society is full of violence, and mental illness, is parents. Two things affect how you turn into who you are: Nature (You are a human and so you will do human things.), and Nurture (What you are exposed to as you are raised will have effects on your personality as you mature). Humans are not born to be anything other than human. Your personality is defined by what you are exposed to, and is slightly affected by how your body operates (i.e. if you have ADD as a kid, you are going to grow up thinking differently than people without ADD). The only thing we can control is how our kids are raised.
