The Washington Redskins, the Cleveland Indians, and the Kansas City Chiefs all have one thing in common; they are widely used mascots that offend many people across the country. Mascots all over the United States are publicizing the struggles of minority groups and making light hearted jokes out of serious struggles. Minorities are often chosen as mascots to represent a sports team. Many people represent these offensive mascots and do not even know the true definition of the word is. The majority of these fans are proud to wear these offensive terms and logos across their chest. Using offensive mascots and using blunt racism needs to be stopped by standing up for the end of offensive mascots. Offensive mascots should be banned because they teach stereotypes are okay, because racial groups should not be used as mascots and because they hurt the culture to which they refer to.
