A residential parking zone on the one block of Fairmount Ave between Kennedy Blvd and West Side Ave has resulted in extra spaces available to residents of that block. Neighborhood residents have proposed extending the parking zone to include:

- Duncan Ave from Bergen to West Side

- Fairmount Ave from Bergen to Kennedy

- South side of Montgomery

- Most addresses on Kennedy Blvd from Montgomery to Duncan

Parking would be available only to neighborhood residents with a zone parking permit from 3-9pm Mon-Fri, the time of greatest parking crunch. The permit costs only $15/yr and is available to residents of these blocks who have a car registered at this in-zone address. Residents without a car can get visitor tags for their guests. The downside is booting and fines for those parking without a zone permit during the restricted hours.

Petition signatures help demonstrate to our City Council representatives that this change has strong neighborhood support. This will not guarantee a parking spot or solve every parking problem - but it will result in better odds of getting a parking spot during the prime time of evening rush hour.
