Would hate to see a team punished for things completely outside of their control / doing. On merit zig theory should have had their flights booked for them already.

The circumstances of the late application should be considered and Zig Theory given a chance to play. Denying a team because of a communication failure that was no fault of their’s seems grossly unfair.

Rob Hancock award winner and AFDA life member. These are still volunteer positions and this enforcement of rules is too harsh. Smaller regions need representation at Div 1 nationals.

It seems that this could be solved for next year if the list of all interested teams that went to regionals was simply used as the wildcard list and had to opt out rather than opt in. And/or the list of wildcard requests is made public prior to decisions. Requiring a confirmation email after an email has already been sent saying who the wildcard requests will be seems like unnecessary bureaucratic fiddling.

The club and players should not be punished for an issue they weren't even made aware of. Also given the gravity of the decision and impact it has, it doesn't sound like enough effort was made to contact relevant people and a lot of pressure was put on a single volunteer.
