We the residents of North West Boca Raton request that Palm Beach County Install a traffic Light at the intersection of Lyons Road and Spanish Isles Blvd. This will protect the residents that live in this area, commute, and drop off and / pick up children at Whispering Pines Elementary School. Many accidents have occured over the years at this intersection and near misses are a daily occurance.

The new communities on Lyons Road North of Clint Moore road have increased the daily usage of this section of road. 1000+ new drivers on the road in this section of West Boca Raton.

Suggested issues for consideration at this intersection

  1. School Traffic at whispering Pines Elementary
  2. Students crossing Lyons Road from Villa San Remo Community without crossing guards
  3. Traffic going north bound on Lyons from Spanish Isles Blvd.
  4. Traffic going south bound on Lyons from Villa San Remo Community
  5. Install a crosswalk for pedestrian traffic crossing Lyons Road to Whispering Pines Elementary
  6. Increased traffic due to development of new neighborhoods on Lyons Road between Clint Moore Rd and Atlantic Blvd.

Please protect our community, children, and residents with a safe intersection and traffic light.

Thank you!

The Palm Beach County Residents of North West Boca Raton

Palm Beach County officials can no longer pretend this intersection is safe while thousands of us demand action. We have reached a critical level of momentum that makes it impossible for them to keep ignoring the daily danger at our school crossing.

My 75 year old mother, my brother, and I have been navigating this intersection for 26 years. I have personally watched the area grow at a reasonable rate and when you try to traverse the intersection, with a school line, it is unreasonable not to have a form of traffic control. At least a crossing guard.

Lyons Rd is now a major thoroughfare with excessive speeding. Whispering Pines School is a severe traffic deterrent for access to/from our neighborhoods. Very dangerous traffic issues at this intersection of Cordoba Lane/Spanish isles/Lyons Road. A traffic signal is undeniably required!

Dangerous intersection. I go out of my way to avoid Lyons Road. Instead I take 441 to Whispering Pines Elementary School. I hope it doesn't take a fatal accident to rectify this mess (especially because it involves children's lives). In 1999, Whisper Walk got their traffic light on Yamato Road after 6 residents were killed while exiting.

have been in touch with M.Berger and Mo at the DOT they did a traffic study and declined a light because the observation did not meet the criteria. This was done 2/28/19 V.P. of villa san remo HOA But the Oaks on Clint Moore did. How did the happen?

The residents of Villa San Remo had tried years ago to get a traffic light installed there and we were told that there had to be a distance of one mile between lights which we don't have between Lyons and Spanish Isles Blvd. We are short a tenth of a mile. But then there's less of a mile between the lights at Century Village and they have 2 lights. Something needs to be done before someone gets seriously hurt.

I have worked at Whispering Pines Elementary for about 20 years and have seen way too many accidents. This is an unsafe intersection.

Definitely dangerous getting out of Villa san Remo with all the traffic and the school across the way.
