Totally shocked by the poor decision made by Bell Media to lay off Carol Ann Meehan. She has done so much in our community and she knows it so well. As most of the news is bad these days, it is much more enjoyable to watch with Carol Ann Meehan who relays it with compassion and caring. The news will not be the same without her. Surely Bell Media will come to their senses and reverse this decision.

Carol-Ann is one of the best anchors for Ottawa, she is a very good journalist and a role model for other young journalists just starting out. Shame to cut her out.

They laid off the News Mom and Friend to so many veiwers. I feel that Bell Media did not take into account anything other than her cost. Sadly dissappointed and would very much want to see her back.

Bell Media you are a bunch of callous butt heads. No. 1...you should have fired the male anchor that has not spent his entire broadcasting career in Ottawa. This women has been a poignant figure in this city on many levels. You Bell Media should be ashamed. Disgusting!

I appreciate that traditional media is "under attack" from new technology and viewing technology. That shareholders / corporate executives demand ever more greed driven return / remuneration. Putting spreadsheets and uber-accountants in charge of driving profit is certainly a short term solution. Taking out the publicly visible infrastructure that the corporation is built on answers short term gratification for their dollar making machine. That said, I cannot believe that it does anything but harm to the corporation when considered beyond the next quarter / bonus award.
Bell Media has through this and past similar actions have badly tainted their corporate image. This will cause loyal viewers and advertisers to look hard at the moral and ethical behaviour of Bell Media, and you will pay the price in the long term. The CBC thanks Bell Media for this very public display of corporate greed and decrepitude. The loyal viewers and advertising dollars that will now switch to the CBC are greatly appreciated by them.
If Bell Media decides to look at the bigger picture and offer reinstatement to Carol-Anne, Carolyn, et al, I hope that they tell you to "stick it where the sun don't shine" in their own professional ways.

Carol Anne is a household name here in the Ottawa Valley and a part of everyone's family. Most of us grew up watching Carol Anne and Max with our parents. This is a terrible mistake on the part of Bell Media!!!!

Firing people who others trust is a good way to loose viewers and in turn revinue. Please think about the long term repercussions of the actions Bell made yesterday and offer hers, Rick Gibbons of CFRA and Shelly from CFRA and the other staffers from both CTV and CFRA their jobs and cut costs elsewhere

This is a very bad move Bell Media; my husband and I were going to re-sign up for satellite but NOT now and NOT with you! I am pretty sure as a media giant, you can afford to maintain Ms. Meehan and Ms. Waldo as news anchors. They deserve it! Cut somewhere else!!
