Laying off an Ottawa news and family icon like Carol Anne.
What are you thinking.
On principal alone our family will forgo watchhing CTV unless she is reinstated with profound appologies.

I have watched the Ottawa news for some 50 years. I have seen Carol Anne for most of her years with CJOH. I believe that she was wrongfully dismissed and should return. My protest of this is that I refuse to watch CJOH anymore and limit my viewing of CTV in general. I am a healthy customer of Bell Media and will soon be redirecting my loyalty to others

I hope it is not too late to add my name to this petition. I am thoroughly disgusted with the treatment she received from Bell media. I can imagine how stressful it must also be for those still employed at CJOH and CTV. Talk about a toxic working environment. I guess the corporations are trying to turn all employees against one another and make them all yes men to those who rule over them. Bell's motto is "Profits over people".

I just watched Carol Anne's comments on this to the Ottawa Sun. Carol Anne you do not need to thank anyone of us for our support, you have come into our homes for many years, and it is our duty and our honor to support you - it was a shock to all of us who tune in every night. The way they let you go, without giving you the chance to say goodbye after 27 years - just - here's the news and then late in the hour they say you were part of the cuts.... what happened to seniority?? You had been there much longer then many of the faces I am currently seeing. It was unfair to your viewers, it was unfair to you - We support you and want to see you on the news desk at 6pm, your beautiful smile and personality have given us sad news and great news stories, and we want that familiar face back.

Bell Media is horrible. I have no services with Bell and never will. I have also stopped watching CTV news and listening to all radio stations associated with Bell Media. You should be ashamed.

I m cancelling my fibe tv, cel phone and going to Rogers.
Bring her back. She s the last of the good ones. Someone who we can trust.

Everyones career has to end sometime however I always pictured Carol announcing on over the air that this would be her last show. Being able to give her a chance to sign off one last time. Especially after such a great job she did.

Why wouldn't Bell Media layoff Graeme Richardson because he was never any good at the news even simply reading it, he messes it up. For goodness sake, bring Carol Anne Meehan back or I'll watch CBC going forward

Bell Media shame on you. Carol Anne Meehan was the face of Ottawa and in our homes the past 27 years! She was not even given a chance to say "good bye". Bell & Rogers are giving me soooo many reasons NOT to use their services! Once did long ago, and won't ever again. You make my decision way too easy.

What happened here? I've been reading the comments made and I agree completely. There are others who are not particularly good journalists who remain, grinding away at the nightly news on CTV Ottawa with little empathy or even understanding of what they're saying. The lack of genuine warmth is palpable. I've been enjoying CBC Ottawa news now since Carol Anne was so summarily and inappropriately dismissed. In the corporate decisions department, you've sooooooo lost the plot Bell Media. Good riddance to you and all your services. I'm sure your sponsors are making some interesting decisions as well.
