Age Appropriate Books for Westfield Washington Students

So very sad that a petition needs to be signed for this.

Schools are no place to confuse our children. Schools are no place to push racial agendas, sexual education and orientation, or anything beyond 2 genders. Pretty soon you're going to have to appease children identifying as an animal. Permission needs to be asked to teach these things and detailed information about what's being taught needs to be outlined for parents at the same time permission is being asked. Better yet, stop wasting our tax dollars and just don't teach these things.

These issues and the information that goes with them need to be addressed on the individual family level. Not by the schools.

Westfield has an overwhelming majority who would disagree with these books being intentional placed in our young children's schools. It is not the school's place to teach these issues.

Do not make transgender books available to all students without parent permission

This subject matter should not be introduced at school. Schools should focus on academics and leave these conversations to parents.

God determines gender, it’s not a guess! And what happened to science - XX & XY? These books are stating lies and confusing kids. Aren’t we trying to DECREASE depression and anxiety? These books will do the opposite and I fear for our poor children who are growing up in a society that’s promoting this type of indoctrination. The schools need to purely focus on academics and critical thinking skills so kids can learn to determine what’s true and what’s not.

I have several nieces and nephews in the Westfield school system and don't endorse indoctrinating them with unfounded information to fulfill a political agenda.

This is unacceptable! It is not the role of public schools to teach or talk about gender identity. First off there are two genders, and second... one is either male or female. Gender is not a CHOICE!

Continue to be shocked at the direction of our educational system and our culture in general.

When a child/family is struggling with moral issues, the counselor could have books in their office to help and should contact parents to review and ask for permission to use these resources. Who approves books of this nature for elementary students to view without parent knowledge??? Standard operating procedure...?

Public education absolutely does not involve the removal of parental consent. Keep up the fight, parents.

Parents are the authority in this matter.

Just by looking at the title and reading the cover has made me make a quick decision. The sex of a child is determined at birth not what someone might decide in the future!

This needs to be stopped.!!!
