Final supporters
As Westville community members, parents and relatives of Westville High School students, and custodians of Westville High School, we are petitioning the outsourcing our jobs to an outside corporation.
We have worked hard to not only keep the school clean for the students and staff, but also other community members who attend special events at Westville High School throughout the year. We have also developed positive relationships with the students and teachers at WHS; they trust us and feel safe around us. We are truly invested in the town of Westville, WHS, and each and every student and teacher at WHS-- something that will not happen if our jobs are outsourced to a corporation.
Outsourcing our jobs would not only leave all of us unemployed by M.D.S of New Durham Township, but would also break the bond and trust that we’ve build with the students, staff, and parents at WHS.
Please join us in petitioning the outsourcing of WHS custodians. Westville students and teachers deserve to have caring community members as a part of their staff, not a faceless corporation that isn’t invested in our community and the future of WHS and its students.

I have been meeting with school board members to discuss the long term impact of replacing our local custodial staff with an outside firm. The feedback from parents who value these established relationships remains the primary focus of my advocacy.

The level of public interest in protecting our school staff has reached a significant turning point. This momentum proves that the community values the stability and relationships our current team provides to the students.

My mother and my Aunt were both custodians at WHS. They were trusted by the staff and students and often saw things that others didn't notice and because they were part of the community and new most of the parents they were to help many students. Whether I was letting them in after hours to get home work they had forgotten or being a friend when they found a student crying in the bathroom. More times then not they new the student and the family. Schools are a partnership between staff, students, parents and the community! Keep it that way,
This was tried within the past 10 years at our schools in West Lafayette Community School Corporation and was a complete failure. You need to have control over who is coming in and out of the schools, repairs and maintenance.
I, myself, attended WHS K-12. This school is fine the way it is and has been for years on end. If it's a money issue, then find where the losses have gone. Other than that, leave the staff as is. The bond between staff and students is hard to come by. No other school has a staff that has the care and concern for students like WHS..
Bringing in any corporation is one step towards losing the comfort that so many parents have of sending their children to Westville. These custodians have lent a helping hand, created bonds with these kids and some of their families, and have anticipation for the younger generations to come. It's small personal touches like these that Westville has and so many larger schools lack. Coming from a larger school to graduating from Westville and personally knowing the difference it made on me is a huge reason why I was so adament in starting my kindergartner at Westville. I would love for him to have the same experiance in the future as past students did. Keep it personal. Keep it family oriented. Keep it small town.
As a Cafeteria Emploee, this outsourcing would be a.bad idea !! Our kids look forward to seeing us Lunch ladies everyday,and the love and feeling we feel towards these kids can not be replaced....
My sister and her friends need their jobs. Please dont do this.

The idea of outsourcing our beloved workers is disappointing. The years and dedication, should not got unnoticed. They have walked teachers out to their cars at night, sat with children waiting for their parents. They are the eyes and ears of our school. You will not find a company that cares as much as these people do.
