HB2439 is Detrimental to Texas Cities

I'm very unhappy with the continuing power grab of the state away from local communities. Please veto this bill!

I move to cities so I don’t have to have the unregulated County looks...

I think it is very important that cities can regulate aesthetics for economic development and branding.

Please don’t destroy the our cities our communities have sacrificed to develop to what the community values.

This bill goes against what the citizens of Frisco has decided for their community, especially the residents that have supported higher density zoning with higher aesthetic development standards. The approval of this bill will squash those standards that were negotiated in good faith by all parties. This will likely lead to more NIMBYism opposing future zoning cases involving higher density, thereby negatively impacting the development community, and cities.

This bill is an overreach. Let citizens of each community decide the direction of their community. Local control.

I work with developers that specialize in downtown infill and revitalization projects. This bill is very damaging to our efforts to restore and maintain the character of these areas.

This will be detrimental to the aesthetic quality that so many Texas cities take such pride in. Please do not sign this bill.

This will negatively effect the tax rate through economic development.

Approving this measure ensures residential structures will be built with inferior, less resilient materials that will accelerate the deterioration of living spaces, and correlates to a faster decline of neighborhoods, inciting slum & blight. This measure is evidentiary that the Texas Legislature does not, in fact, work for the interests of those it represents, but instead champions the agenda of private businesses that has paid for these types of favors.

Gov. Abbott, this bill will have significant negative impacts to cities and towns across this Great State. Citizens have a right to create a vision for the places they call home and this bill will ensure these rights are diminished if not completely stripped away. I make a humble request for you to not sign HB 2439l.

Please veto HB 2439. This bill, if passed, will create a damaging situation for cities.

The bill does nothing to enhance the human experience, uphold local values, or strengthen sense of place and community. It will, in fact, serve to erode all of these noble objectives through the "dumbing down" of the architectural vocabulary of distinctive places, fomenting homogenization throughout the state at the lowest common denominator of the cheapest materials comporting to minimum requirements. This bill effectively codifies a disincentive to investment in communities that esteem good design, quality construction practices, and distinctive local character.

The City Council of Wylie has adopted ordinances that put in place the aesthetic look that we as citizens and governing body wish for our community. Governor Abbott please VETO this detrimental bill.

This bill is not needed and will hurt our communities.

Such a bill with dramatically impact the standards that create such aesthetic uniqueness and appeal in many communities
