HB2439 is Detrimental to Texas Cities

Leave these decisions to local government

A ridiculous bill clearly promulgated by a certain building materials company/organization. Not to mention, once again the State is trying to usurp local control. If they want it so badly, then just do it 100% and quit chipping away. Now fix our potholes Abbott!!

This is a serious piece of legislation with long term effects. Much more public input should be used before signing it into law. What is the reason for rushing the bill into law?

This bill thwarts the will of the people and local governance. It will permit section 8 building quality and aesthetics everywhere. Please VETO!!!

There are way too many unintended consequences for this ill-thought out bill. Please join me in opposing this.

Our boards have worked hard to make the city look how the citizens want it.

We are working hard to improve and beautify our downtown. This would destroy any attempt we would have in redevelopment to help improve our tax base.

This bill is absurd

First, as a home owner, the value of my brick home is important and allowing this Bill to become law will likely lessen the value of my home over the years. Additionally, as a brick maker for nearly 25 years, Texas has set itself apart from other states with the history of it's masonry products it produces. So, not only will this effect the homeowners, it will likely cost Texans jobs in the masonry industry.

The cultural and historic landscape of Codes have evolved for a reason. Don’t unravel them!

We are lakefront community our standards are part of flood-loss prevention requirements by FEMA. There must be an exception for materials that allow for enhanced flood-proofing buildings. If we cannot enforce FEMA regs then we will not be eligible for the National Flood Insurance. That is unacceptable.

I live in a small town outside San Antonio that has a unique and beautiful historic charm to it. We are growing like crazy and trying very hard to keep our small town quaint atmosphere. We fight the ugly big box stores and strive to fit new commercial construction to fit seamlessly with our current look. This bill would ruin our town. Please do not sign it!!!! Let the communities of Texas each keep their own characters and not let the greed of corporations bulldoze our wishes.

Our cities need the power to determine the requirements for building aesthetics . Attractive buildings and plantings increase customer flow. This bill does not meet the Texas belief that decisions need to be made at a local level. I see anyone supporting this bill will find themselves without support in the next election.

Bad idea. Communities should decide this at a local level.

Please veto this bill! Residents deserve the right to influence how their community looks and feels. They do this by electing representatives who review applications of development. This bill would effectively rip that power away from individuals and render their opinions useless.

I am a concerned citizen and believe in local control regarding how our communities look.

I am a licensed landscape Architect and I do not support this bill.

This is abhorrent. This completely undermines SAFETY as well as aesthetics of our communities

After all of the work being done to revitalize Texas cities, passage of this bill would be a detriment to local efforts to boost economies in small towns.
