I just closed June 30th 2014 moved in my home and this is a surprise to me. We actually liked the fact that you can park on the street if I had known we might have stayed in the condo we lived in before with plenty of parking for homeowners and visitors! This is against all rights if being a homeowner! Simply hypocritical!

Try and get everyone in your household that drives to sign the petition. We need to make sure this is as impactful as possible.

Fellow home owners the only way that we have any chance of fighting this absurd rule is by coming together as a community and showing up to this meeting this Thursday and express all of our concerns! If we don’t come together not only will this rule go into effect but they will enforce it and they will have the power! My question is if they do this what other rule will they come up with? My questions are, Why? For Who? What is the purpose of this stupid rule? I have a family of four and three of us drive are we to sell our cars because of an HOA? Apartments don’t even do this. How is it our fault they didn’t provide more parking? It is the builder’s fault that they rather make more houses for profit and not caring about how the logistics of the community will work so they crammed as many house as possible together now we are paying the price with this unreasonable rule. I’d like to meet the president of our HOA. I wonder if they even live in our community and would like to know WHAT ARE HIS/HERS INTENTIONS with this preposterous rule! We pay taxes, HOA fees, law abiding citizens and we are being told not to park in front of our own homes with our own vehicles? This makes me ill beyond belief as now I am being faced with what to do with my cars, something I didn’t fathom would happen while being a home owner! I hope to see everyone in this Thursday meeting, have a good night.

I just contacted Ian Russell at Channel 8 news with an email. I will update you when he responds. I wrote: " Hello Mr. Russell, I am reaching out to you on behalf of the residents of The Villas at Huntington, a nice non-gated community in southwest Las Vegas. Our nearest cross streets are Blue Diamond and Ft Apache. Our HOA has sent out information to all residence outlining a new parking policy that will be implemented. They are having a board meeting today to confirm it and assign parking variances as per requested by the board from the residences who can not conform to this new policy. The policy prohibits any parking on the streets and requires residents to purchase a parking permit if the board decides to approve them for a variance. It requires notices and parking passes for guests among other annoying inconveniences. They will begin towing those in violation of the policy starting August 1st. This is a huge problem for a large number of residents due to a huge number of units only having one car garages/driveways, such as myself. Our garage has become storage for our 5 person family of three working adults and two young children. All three adults have vehicles and work 40+ hours a week. We feel that homeowner rights are being compromised. We feel that it should be our right to park on our streets in front of our own homes as long as it doesn't block driveways and is not in a "red zone" for safety. I do not personally know of any good reasons why they want to implement this policy. I am a homeowner of 4 years and have never experienced any problems with parking, nor have I heard complaints. We want to send a message to our HOA of whom we pay $42 per month that we may not say anything about their petty complaints, like a few weeds or a freshly cleaned rug drying on my porch for one hour, but this has gone too far. We do not think its right for them to force us to purchase parking permits. Another resident passed out flyers for an online petition to "Say

Having one day out of the week to keep traffic off the street for street cleaning/sweeping services is understandable. Keeping vehicles out of heavily trafficked streets is understandable. Strong arming rightful residents into keeping their vehicles from the street in front of their own homes for any reason than these two is abominable.

Apparently the HOA wants to make it more difficult for me to get to work. The same place that gives me money so I can pay the HOA fees. If I wanted to fight for parking spaces I would have bough a condo or moved into an apartment.

I think calling the local news is a great idea. Unbelievable, the builder and city should have addressed street width and parking when the development was in its early stages. Definitely seems homeowners rights are being violated.

This is such a ridiculous rule. Who has ever heard of not being able to park in front of your own home? I did not sign up to live in a nazi neighborhood. I hope we can get this rule repealed promptly. I am going to contact the local news about this and see if they want to pick up the story.
