I, the undersigned, herein declare that I
strongly and intensely denounce all forms of violence incurred in the name of
Islam, on any fellow Egyptian from any faith. I fiercely condemn the aggression
that Christian Egyptians are subjected to, and denounce targeting any group
within our broad Egyptian canvas of multiple faiths and colors. I herein
emphasize that we Egyptians of all faiths stand united in the face of
terrorism, and I insist that those who try to divide us are not part of us. I
strongly underscore that any attack on any group of Egyptians is an attack on
all of us.
It is of extreme importance to emphasize
that Islam is a religion of peace that calls for inclusion, love and empathy,
and that those who incite violence do not represent us nor this splendid faith.
It is necessary to point out that Egypt and Egyptians have always been
all-encompassing of differences. Our history and culture are testimonies of
that and we will not allow imposters to distort our identity.
Finally, I am fully aware that the war on
terror might be a long one, and I am fully committed to continue fighting with
my fellow Egyptians, for as longs as it takes, while standing united as one
nation
We need to push for concrete steps that will end endemic and systematic racism in Egyptian society. 1) remove labels from national IDs, 2) publicly label and prosecute preachers that advocate prejudice and hate in sermons 3) overhaul public education to promote true equality (not only symbolic "solidarity" as is the broad messaging today)
