This is a petition to lobby the three universities based on the Medway Campus at Chatham Maritime for a public access defibrillator to be installed in an accessible location on site.
Acting
quickly when someone is in cardiac arrest and fighting for their life is
crucially important.
The British Heart Foundation claim: Around 60,000
out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every year. When someone goes into cardiac arrest, every
minute without CPR and defibrillationreduces their chances of survival by 10%.
A defibrillator is a machine that delivers an electric shock to the heart when
someone is having a cardiac arrest. These machines can also be called AEDs
(automated external defibrillators).
We Believe that the; University of Greenwich, University of Kent and Canterbury Christchurch University should support the installation, upkeep and insurance of this vital, life saving device.
