The winning entry proposal for the public spaces are doubtfully ineffective in nurturing community spirit considering the "tight" open space concept. Not withstanding whether the proposed space is able to cater to the large crowd by which the brief calls for flexibility and interchangeable of spaces .Likewise, the usage of extensive roof terraces proven uneconomical ,ill-cost effective and illogical in the context of Afghanistan when an extensive natural ground are highly underutilized and shamefully shunned.andscape

Making petition not because one did not win but for the fact that the winning entry and some runner ups contradicts some strict aspects of the brief.

The results are highly unethical. The competition brief has been disregarded completely. Jury members should not be invited to be part of other juries and results should be invalidated

The jury seems to be biased towards the Eurocentric way of seeing and judging ideas and perception of the cultural centre at Bamiyan. Not only the winning entry violates the sentiments of the people of bamiyan in particular and that of afghanistan in general, it also lacks life and vitality neccesary to the nourishment of a culture suffering from helplessness and injustice. The central question remains unanswered, that, will the people of bamiyan feel this cultural centre as their possession and belonging, or will they suffer further disillusionment and alienation? the question is of a very delicate nature and demands substantial thinking on the part of the jury and sufficient input from the very people of bamiyan. If the answer is in positive, their is a hope for reconciliation. if it's in negative, then, pray, another crisis is awaiting in near future.

If the competition is to embrace democracy and to be part of the cultural herritage of Afghanistan (and particularly Bamiyan), how come there is no public vote in the decision making proces?
