Trees are an integral part of a healthy environment. We need more trees, not less, to combat climate change.

Development can be undertaken more wisely by knowing the benefit of trees and their significant contribution with CO2 reduction, oxygen generation, and temperature moderation in the face of climate deterioration. How can we better educate Washington County? It’s time to listen and act. I’m asking if you have the leadership to protect our families, our children who deserve clean air, and the trees that need our stewardship. Just ask me, and I’ll be honored to be part of your council.

The retention of natural areas is critical to the health of our habitat. People must coexist with the rest of the life in our area.

Habitat is being destroyed and this must stop if the earth and us are to survive.

Several of us in our Garden Home neighborhood have Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District urban conservation projects on our properties. At the same time, conflicting public policy means multiple cedars, firs, and other mature trees have been removed from nearby properties. Washington County needs an urban forestry program!

Development seems enevitable.. But please keep some of our trees. We need them for wildlife corridors and homes, for beauty, for clean air and water. Trees did not fare well with latest large homes build directl acroos the street on Jericho RD. from our home.

Trees are an essential component of climate resiliency. Any county planning must take into consideration the sequestered carbon of mature trees.

Protect the few remaining areas. We need more trees, not fewer.

Trees are critical to our survival. We need a planner to ensure our environment survives the influx of humans.

This new development on Leahy is a travesty! It is insane to think our county officials continue to allow perfectly healthy mature trees to be removed for development that is too dense for the county. We are losing the country-feel we love & have chosen a long time ago and as we are becoming a too dense, too populated city!! I am saddened by the greed our officials are displaying & the utterly lack of respect for nature & its inhabitants. As we remove more & more of the mature forest, we should not wonder why temperatures are rising & floods are happening… replacing trees tops with tar roofs & paved roads is not the right solution!

Why is building taking over no matter the continued loss of wildlife habitat. Just so sad and frustrating!

Trees over profits! Trees over developer interests! They should have to build around existing mature trees, not cut them down.

This is an increasingly important effort. The urban heat island impacts threaten the quality of life for all of us, as well as the aesthetics that so many of us sought when we chose to move to the area.

This issue comes up again and again and county commissioners turn a blind eye. Many new county residents are not aware of the issue and do not understand the process as it is complex so natural resources are not considered in road widening or housing development. Developers know they can sell houses with a strip of green so they will continue to bow to market pressure if no brakes are applied by the county. Heavily pruned and manicured lots do NOT provide habitat.

PLEASE consider the requests made in this petition as you develop our new plan for our precious trees. We need to act now before we lose even more of them. We should have taken these actions decades ago

WA Co needs to put the intrinsic value of mature trees over the push for development. Mitigation through planting younger trees is not and even exchange.

This is long overdue, we are losing significant wildlife habitat every year.

Enough is enough. We don't need to kill anymore trees in Washington County.

At the minimum the county needs an urban forester to add a scientific voice to keeping our trees.
