No, No, No!!! There are countless feasible and prudent alternatives to demolishing this fine building. Please consider the whole before condemning its parts to salvage. Thompson's River Mill is a significant part of your town's cultural identity. If you lose it, you will lose all the stories it signifies. Please re-think this ill-conceived plan and celebrate your heritage.

While buildings such as this are of vital interest to those who live locally, they are part of a broader Connecticut and New England industrial heritage. Local supporters of preservation should know that people from the other side of Connecticut also care about preserving these buildings and making them into assets for the future while preserving a reminder of a past culture that bound us all together. These are buildings that will become a local as well as a national treasure in the future if they can be preserved.

History is made up in large part by the visible, tactile reminders of the people and events which comprise it. These reminders are unique - and should be preserved and yes, cherished.
