My 28 year old son is bipolar. We always send the doctor a note to let her know how he is doing...he lives with us and we see his symptoms daily. When he sees her he tells her everything is ok...she goes with what he says and not what we observe. He needs successful treatment and is not getting it because the doctor will not listen to what we observe...he deserves to thrive!!

If successful treatment for cancer proceeds with the goal of removing every cancerous cell—to achieve complete remission, why do we consider treatment for depression or bipolar disorder to be successful when symptoms persist?

I live with symptoms of depression and have completely recovered from trauma related PTSD and Weather Related Anxiety. I have lived with such since beginning at the age of four, that was 50 years ago. I now utilize my lived recovery experience to benefit those who are living with their own set of symptoms and need support. I would love to see that we utilize our tools to help individuals move toward a life where the pain and struggles associated with depression and bi-polar disorder no longer cause pain and suffering.

This is a human rights issue. A powerful country to lock and load guns at any price while humans are left in our streets and lack funds to purchase medication. Imagine giving a portion of money that the Farmers receive in corporate welfare. We have followed the rules in getting access to our politicians in Washington and our state representatives. Need to use the resources and time to educating the public. This is an amazing start!

To me, recovery means living an active, meaningful life with minimal symptoms and practicing ongoing self-care; I'm for that!
