In the almost three years of running The Lola Project, we as a community, commonly discuss (both in person at events and through social media) public access problems and concerns, and without fail every time Walmart is brought up, and not for good reasons. Hundreds of legitimate service dog teams (handler and service dog), have had serious problems while shopping in Walmart including being attacked by other dogs, barked at, walking though urine and feces from other dogs, and many other terrible events. THIS IS NOT OKAY, and not to mention these people bringing in their pets into Walmart are breaking the law, including health code violations, and Walmart is not enforcing or even trying to enforce thesefederal and statelaws, that are designed to protect their patrons and their business for that matter.Countless employees of Walmart have told me they are directly told, and trained,they are not to confront or question anyone bringing an animal into the store, and to allow them in. This has to be stopped immediately, thousands of people and service dog teamsare at risk everyday because of this practice. Please sign this petition to support us in our efforts to stop Walmart from allowing pets into their store, and putting people and service dog teams at risk, as well as helping them learn to properly train employees in understanding and enforcing ADA law (and any other state laws that may apply).

I spent the morning reading through the stories you all are leaving about your experiences in the aisles and it honestly just makes my blood boil how common these attacks have become. It is wild that we have to fight just to get store management to follow the actual law but I am working on getting our concerns in front of someone who actually has the power to change these policies. People think this is just a minor annoyance but when you are a handler you know it is about safety and being able to exist in public without being put in danger by someone who thinks their pet is an exception to the rules.

I was honestly staring at the screen for an hour earlier because the amount of support this is getting is just wild. It feels like people are finally seeing how dangerous and unfair these store policies are for handlers like me and Lola and it makes me want to keep pushing until things actually change.

We no longer shop at our WalMart as it has become such an issue. Dogs in dresses allowed to pick out meat. Dogs in diapers. Dogs off leash and dogs marking food items. We have encountered numerous aggreasive dogs also. Every time we would go.to our local store we would encounter issues with pets. our store even allows monkeys and snakes.
Walmart, don't let it take a legitimate service dog getting hurt or killed by a pet in your store illegally for this change to happen! Be proactive and help us out!
As a disabled person who uses a Service dog I have encountered so many pets that I have all but stopped going for fear my highly trained working dog may be harmed by one of the many aggressive PETS that are allowed in the stores.
Walmart is in violation of so many laws.They are allowing pets inside which violates the Health Code. They are also putting customers in potential danger by allowing random pets in the store. The ADA and most state laws are being violated when Walmart employees harass real service dog teams. They have already been sued over this issue once.
Pets in walmart need to stop! I'm tired of turning corners in Walmart with my service dog to find another pet dog trying to attack us, and bite at my dog! Enough is enough!
It’s disrespectful to people who know this is wrong! It’s unsanitary dogs like sniffing on all kinds of stuff and people are allergic to dogs. My coworker said he saw a dog take a crap in a grocery store. They could stop in urinate on anything. There’s a chance a child could get bit. Those dog owners with big scary dogs know they can’t bring their dogs in the store so why should the other dog owners do that?
I can’t go into stores with dogs in there because it caused an asthma attack! I mean who shopping the dogs or people?

I worked at a Walmart for 9 years and we had so many complaints from customers about this very thing. Dog hair in carts, dogs doing their business in the meat dept! Dogs barking at other dogs...the list goes on, and yes I witnessed all of those things and more. Only TRAINED service animals should be allowed in the grocery store.
