Fight back to stop Kingston councils money making scam on issuing penalty charges

I was caught and paid the fine. No prior warnings before entering the road. They are not making it clear. There should be a no entry sign for cars.

if the authorities wish to reduce car use and encourage the public to use buses then they must increase the bus services first (not reduce them) before creating chaos by restricting the roads further.

If the signs are so clear why is everyone getting caught. Most of us are law abiding citizens.

I was fined and it is obviously a scam to get money. I would not have driven through if I had realised that it was a no entry. It is made to appear just a narrowing of the road to allow one vehicle to pass at a time. Please refund the money.

Just received my PCN letter from Kingston upon Thames stating I'm to pay £130 to them for entering a road that looks like any other,if this is a road for buses , cabs and bikes only ,then why don't they Show some actual road markings on the concrete that you are driving on , not some tiny little signs 7-8ft in the air that you can't actually read in time , unless you stop , then run the risk of being hit from someone behind you about to fall into the same trap . This as in most cases is a quick and easy money earner we have to deal with in Kingston for the last few years , I don't think they care at all about easing congestion , having been down this road many times over the years , it never really seemed a major problem , has it suddenly turned into Piccadilly Circus ! A major stitch up , so sick of this blatant rifoff , makes you wonder who the real criminals are sometimes .

The signage from Hionston along Surbiton Road is just inadequate, relying on no even moderately tall vehicles blocking sight of the two little signs, with no sign in the centre of the road, meaning that many vehicles will not be aware of the No Right Turn until after they have already committed to it. If it is a trial, then - especially given the inadequate signage, first offenders should be just given a warning. More priority needs to be given to cars, not empty cycle lanes.

My wife got caught last week not realising where she got the fine, I took the car out yesterday and was stopped by a local resident showing me the new road layout. I now too will be receiving a fine. The signage is inadequate and very misleading. I really do not see the point.

Kingston Council Traffic Dept. are plagiarists. CAS-204818-D1J7KO I entered Surbiton Crescent from Kingston Road 24th Nov; received PCN 03/12 & submitted challenge. Challenge rejection received 16/12, immediately emailed following protest, as their Library photos showed their signage inadequate:- "1. One should always remember that cyclists are ‘unlicensed’ road users (similar to pedestrians). 2. I do not live in the area; I heard no clue that this scheme was envisaged: there was no warning signage/posters of ‘this change’ at traffic lights, pedestrian crossings etc. (where traffic might be stationary to read a longer notice) so I suspect this is a ‘money-making’ venture to fund the Council. 3. The alignment of the “No Entry” signs is ‘facing squarely’ at Southsea Road (a one-way road heading away from the Surbiton Crescent/Surbiton Road intersection), so they serve “No Purpose” (other than to generate revenue???): pointing in a direction where no one is looking. The signs are set too high to trigger even one’s peripheral vision. Common sense should dictate that the southernmost sign should be rotated 30 degrees, anticlockwise, and, the northernmost sign 30 degrees clockwise, so that traffic on the Surbiton Road (the only feeder road at this junction), can ‘even’ sight the signs, prior to the junction. The following visit to Ham House, the signs were lower, and had been pivoted ~ so I sent a 2nd email pointing-out they were guilty of plagiarism. 4. I will, of course, shift on to the Maple Road/Surbiton Road junction, on the infrequent occasions that we take our grandchildren to Ham House, and queue with all the other vehicles, outside Surbiton High School: Yes, the pollution levels will increase in that locale, with young brains being poisoned (but who is culpable for organising that factor?, and who, knowingly, allowed this to happen?). 5. I can not believe the council put this in, I have been driving through here for 10 years to pick up a disabled lady. When it was first put in I thought it was a width restriction to slow traffic outside the school fair enough, then next thing I get a fine ..no warning about change from council! Also it is only about 50 foot long what a total joke.

Poor signage and warning for local drivers using this route for years.
